The LOEWE Foundation and Museo Nacional del Prado have collaborated on a new project that delves into the collections of renowned writers from around the world.
Titled “Escribir el Prado“, the initiative will focus on the Prado Museum, its art, artists, galleries, and buildings, with literary creation serving as its inspiration. The LOEWE Foundation will fund two annual residencies for three years, allowing well-known writers to conduct research and immerse themselves in the museum’s history. The participating authors will write about their experiences in a literary text that will be published by the museum and Granta magazine. Furthermore, the Prado Museum will provide two writers with the opportunity to explore the collection and its rooms to maintain the age-old connection between literature and art. The expert committee will select the authors from a group of writers who have expressed significant interest in establishing connections with the cultural entity.
“The museum is home to many of my favourite paintings, some of which have inspired designs for past runway collections such as Velazquez’s Las Meninas. This project is an incredible opportunity to step into the endlessly inspiring world of the Prado Museum and make exciting new cross-cultural connections”
