    CPH:DOX Unveils Full 2021 Lineup

CPH:DOX has just unveiled the full lineup for this years festival, which will run from 21. april til 12. maj, and as usual, it’s stacked with quality films, in all genres, with features from a number of iconic directors, such as: Spike Lee, Werner Herzog, Gianfranco Rosi, Shelly Silver, Errol Morris, Ulrike Ottinger and Sergei Losnitza.

One of the protagonists is the critically acclaimed ‘GUNDA‘, which is produced by Joaquin Phoenix. Here we see the unfiltered lives of a mother pig, a flock of chickens, and a herd of cows with masterful intimacy. Using stark, transcendent black and white cinematography and the farm’s ambient soundtrack, Master director Victor Kossakowsky invites the audience to slow down and experience life as his subjects do, taking in their world with a magical patience and an other worldly perspective. GUNDA asks us to meditate on the mystery of animal consciousness, and reckon with the role humanity plays in it.

Spike Lee’s ‘David Byrne’s American Utopia‘ documents the former Talking Heads frontman’s brilliant, timely 2019 Broadway show, based on his recent album and tour of the same name. In ‘My Psychedelic Love Story’ by Errol Morris, we see the how the CIA experimented with LSD in the 50s. In ‘The Dissident‘ by Oscar winning director Bryan Fogel, Washington Post jouralist Jamal Khashoggi, disappears in Istanbul and a a global cover-up is exposed.

“Despite the obvious difficulties due to the Covid-19 situation we have been looking immensely forward to presenting our full festival programme this year. The line-up includes films focusing on new platform economies, the dominance of tech giants, new democratic movements, decolonization and climate change. The film programme will officially kick off on April 21 followed by an abundance of digital live events – talks, debates, Q&As, panel discussions and interactive formats that will give our audiences a chance to meet and listen to great artists, innovative scientists, politicians, opinion makers and a number of important marginalized voices that normally wouldn’t get a chance to be heard,”

    Tine Fischer, CEO of CPH:DOX.

The digital festival will be available on the CPH:DOX’ digital platform from April 21 to May 5, and from May 6 to May 12, a selection of films will be screened in movie theaters in Copenhagen. Watch the full program HERE.
