Entiteta, is a 21-year-old self taught 3D artist based out of Slovenia. These past couple of years he has made a name for himself on social media, having several of his videos going viral. Entiteta is a masterful weaver of intrigue, crafting digital realms and characters that play upon the viewer’s imagination. With each carefully composed scene, a symphony of visual and emotional cues guides the audience on a tantalizing journey. Yet, even as the storyline unfolds, there remains an artful veil of mystery draped over the narrative, which leaves the viewer curious and wanting to see more.
For now, information about Entiteta is limited, adding to the allure of the rising talent. Check out the interview below.
Hi Entiteta! Thank you for sitting down with me. First question that I always ask. How does a regular day look like for you in Slovenia?
First I want to thank you for having me, I saw you interview a lot of painters and me being more in the digital space and yet still be on here having your interest now is a big honor for me. Thank you!
Slovenia is really slow. And the part of Slovenia where I live, is even slower. Not really much going on. Not that it matters a lot to me right now, I mostly spend my time on my PC working on 3D projects.
Do you remember how old were you when you started to play around with different graphic design / 3D programs? And which programs do you use now?
I remember starting with graphic design in Photoshop, I think that was around 3 or 4 years ago now. It was interesting for a while but it had a limit, I wanted to create a world for which I could then create characters of all kinds and make them do all kinds of stuff. So I got into 3D with Blender, which I still use now.
I had a slow start, 3D can be scary at times, there is so much you can do, so you have to decide what you want to learn. I started with very simple characters, skipping a lot of basics that probably should be learned when starting out.
I do not really care about the theory behind animation or modelling, I just want my characters to look the best they can. If there was some type of software that would let me create things straight out of my mind I would replace any software with it, without a second thought. I still sometimes imagine something beautiful but then I am not really sure how to do it inside the software.
With that in mind. What made you gravitate towards 3D / Augmented Reality, and not something more traditionel art like painting or sculpting for example?
I think games played a big role in that, the idea of making my own worlds and my own characters came from games, maybe a little bit from TV too, when I was a child, but mainly I would say games. So naturally if I played games on my PC I also wanted to make my own worlds on my PC.
Also it’s way easier to start I think. If you buy a canvas and paint, you really need to get into it, put many hours into it, buy many canvases because you mess up a lot of them, new paint and everything. On my PC I just install the software and play around with it whenever I want.
I love painting, I would love to know how to paint, even sculpt maybe. These skills are something really special, at the end of the day I just make pixels on my screen behave a certain way, but creating a sculpture or painting a beautiful painting and then having it must be really nice.
I think paintings carry more weight right now compared to digital work. I think the problem is that most people still stick way more to the technical aspect of it. There is no Zdzisław Beksiński or David Lynch in 3D yet, not that I know of. Just an example, so maybe people can actually understand what I am talking about.
Have you ever thought about venturing into to the metaverse and create NFTs, since that’s right up your alley?
I have, yes. I think the idea behind NFTs in itself, is not that wrong, but the people and projects around it destroyed the image in some way.
I like the idea that somebody would buy a 1 of 1 creation from me as an NFT. To me that is another level above the custom work that I create for musicians or clothing brands right now. For them I create what they need. Selling a 1 of 1 creation to someone I hope at least would feel like I created something someone wanted. Like selling a painting maybe.
Staying on the subject. What are your thoughts about the NFT space, and where do you see NFTs compared to physical art, in 10 years?
Maybe it would add a new layer of value to my work. I would love to see the NFT space move more torwards something like the paintings space. People just made it way too much about investment, and while I do understand that paintings carry value as well, most of the time the very expensive paintings are something special themselves, or maybe the artist that painted it is, and is respected by people in that community if you want to call it that.
We can be honest now, some NFTs were just the shittiest combination of colors and shapes somebody could ever make in MS Paint. There was no community around the work itself, just weird investors who wanted to be among the first in a brand new market.
There are exceptions of course and some amazing artists found a way to finally sell their digital work just like painters for example do. Maybe it is the way for digital artists to move from working on commissions for a living, to actually creating by their own vision all the time for a living.
I still do believe in my idea of NFTs and I know many people would love to see it developed more into this direction. I see no reason to not ever create some 1 of 1 creations and then offer them to anyone who would like to own that piece of my work.
In 10 years from now I think it will have made it this far already, the weird investing & scamming projects will die and the people who actually want to collect or sell beautiful work will remain. It could really be just a way of buying and actually owning digital work. Would love to see people develop cool ways to display that ownership aswell and I am not talking about profile pictures.
We will see how it all develops, right now a lot of people just hate NFTs overall because of the bad scammy projects.
A lot of your work is influenced by fashion. What does fashion mean to you? And how do they influence your everyday life.
I love clothes, I told you I started with graphic design in Photoshop. Having my own brand was my dream back then and it still is. I do not want to rush this dream, I want to take my time with it, people that follow me on Entiteta will have to trust my taste and I hope that we will be able to build up something really special one day.
Besides that dream I would say that I do care about fashion, I am interested in any form of art. I like photography, sometimes, painting, sculpting, architecture and so on. What changes is how much time I put into one of those interests. Sometimes I read into something about fashion or watch someone explain a part of it. Just like there might be a day when I find a cool photographer and I end up being into photography for a week.
I really do not want to limit myself to one or two forms of art. Fashion seems to be a big interest, because I wear clothes every day, you see clothes every day, I am sure you know what I am trying to say.
What’s the inspiration behind the various scenes in your work? And how do you come up with them?
For a lot of my scenes I get inspiration from music, I hear music and I see a scene that fits that music. Sometimes moods, imagine a feeling as a scene. I have some recent work that I have yet to show off that I would call anxiety, the scene and just everything about it.
It all feels very natural, I never really had issues with getting ideas, finding my style, and all those issues I see some people having.
Can you walk me through your creative process. From beginning, to end result?
I get some sort of vision, idea for a character or a world, then I think about what type of characters would live in that world or what type of world those characters would live in. The process of making it all, in itself, is really boring, even to me. I like seeing results, I like having ideas and thinking about them. What can I say, I just sit behind a PC while imagining some sort of crazy world.
I like the visions and ideas part of my work a lot more, as you can see. That is why I hope to maybe one day in the future get a chance to try myself more in the role of creative direction or leading a project, not really sure what to call it.
For now I am happy with the small part of my work where I can imagine all sorts of worlds, characters and stories.
You’re only 21, and you’ve already gained a lot of success and a loyal following on social media with your animations. What has that experience been like? And do you have any projects coming up?
The following grew so fast that it almost feels like it was somehow handed down to me from somewhere. I am very happy that so many people like what I create and that they show a lot of interest in my ideas and visions.
I got to work on visuals for a track that featured Lil Uzi Vert. That is just so crazy to me, I am here in my room in a really tiny slow village and that is where a video was made for Skaiwater and Lil Uzi Vert. It still blows my mind. Hopefully I get to work with more amazing artists like them in the future. There are many amazing projects I got the chance to work on, and I am thankful for all of them.
I want it all to be even more mindblowing and surreal to me, I want it to grow even more, and I will work for it.
I have a lot of projects in my mind, some already in the works. I have many ideas for longer animations with stories, some sort of short films. Time will reveal more of my mind of course, so I will not talk too much about the future now.
Who do you look up to?
Anybody who lost their mind while creating what they wanted.
What motivates you?
The chance that I too will one day lose my mind and dissappear in my ideas. That fascinates me.
How would you describe a perfect day?
It is not very common that I think of days in that way, it’s all just the way it is. Why it’s like that whenever, is not really something I want to know. If I have a bad day I am sad. I am sad, and that is all there is to it. If I am angry I am angry. Maybe this is a cool technique to protect myself.
But to actually answer the question, sometimes when I am at a nice place, when I go to the city, maybe some holiday, time feels perfect at that moment.
What’s your favorite movie(s) and why?
I just watched Oppenheimer yesterday so I will just name it my favorite movie right now. I loved it. It really made me care, there is a part in the movie that can give you anxiety like you are there with the people who worked on the project. I can only recommend it to anybody who has not seen it yet, go watch it on a big screen. I do not want to say anything more because it is still a new movie, go enjoy it yourself.
What song(s) are you currently listening to the most right now?
Right now I am listening to YAMAMOTO by Ufo361
