Karol Palczak and His Incredible Photorealistic Paintings

by Rubén Palma December 14, 2022
    written by Rubén Palma

Karol Palczak (b.1987 in Przemyśl, Poland). He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow in 2015, where he studied painting in the studio of prof. Janusz Matuszewski. In 2019, he received the Grand Prix of the 44th Painting Biennale Bielska Jesień. In 2021, Galeria Bielska BWA in Bielsko-Biała hosted his monographic exhibition “From what I see now”, presented in the same year also at the BWA Tarnów gallery. His monographic exhibitions were also held, e.g. in the Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow in 2021 and in the Promotional Gallery in Warsaw in 2019. In 2022, he had an exhibition at the Foksal Gallery Foundation representing him.

Karol Palczak is a careful observer of his surroundings. Krzywcza, the village in Podkarpacie where he lives, appears in his paintings as an epic landscape of the Dynów Foothills on the San River, a void left by the multicultural Orthodox-Jewish-Catholic community that historically inhabited these areas. tensions in the community whose values dominated Poland did not free it from economic exclusion or quench its unrest.
