Lucien Clarke x DC Shoes “DCV’87”

The designer and esteemed skateboarder has unveiled his own brand in an exciting collaboration with DC Shoes, seeking to recapture the reference status that once defined him in both the skaterparks and the streets during the vibrant 90s era.

Introducing the debut of his eponymous brand, DCV’87, Clarke joins forces with the renowned skatewear label DC to introduce a striking new project. The centerpiece of this venture is a captivating hybrid OG skate silhouette, skillfully combining DC’s ‘Lynx Zero’ upper with the cutting-edge ‘Lynx OG’ sole technology.

This exceptional model comes in two distinct colorways—black and brown—drawing inspiration from Clarke’s Jamaican and British heritage. The designs feature seamless tonal suede stitching running along the mudguards, ankle flaps, and heels, while rugged leather and mesh elevate the lower panels, showcasing a perfect fusion of style and functionality.

The brand name “DCV’87” is discreetly displayed through watermarks placed on the tongues, subtly asserting its identity. Additionally, the interlocking DC Shoes logo is elegantly embroidered on the crescents, adding a touch of sophistication to the silhouette. The crowning glory lies in the translucent Lynx OG outsole, adorned with embossed inscriptions that read: “I saw this coming” and “This is not a f*cking game,” encapsulating the bold and unapologetic spirit of the brand.

Our first project with Lucien had to do with the innate chemistry between DC’s heritage and his creative point of view,” (…) DC meets DCV’87. It just made too much sense, so we made it the starting point for what will be a series of exciting projects to come.

    – Michael Minter, Global Marketing Director for DC Shoes

To infuse this collection with a nostalgic essence, Clarke embarked on a journey to his birthplace, Jamaica, where he took center stage in the campaign. Joining him in this captivating shoot was fellow DC and Palace skater, Kanin Garner, creating a dynamic duo that perfectly embodies the spirit of the collection. The entire campaign was masterfully captured by the talented photographer Julian Klincewicz, adding an artistic touch that truly brings the essence of the brand to life.

The DC Shoes x DCV’87 collaboration will be released July 22, on the DC Shoes website and select retailers.
