Netflix has just released the first trailer for “Monster“, which is based on Walter Dean Myers novel by the same name, where we follow the tragic story of Steve Harmon, a 17-year-old high school student whose world falls apart when he is accused of murder.

The movie is produced by John Legend and Nas who will also be starring in the movie, together with A$AP Rocky, Jeffrey Wright, Jennifer Hudson, John David Washington and Kelvin Harrison. The movie is directed by Anthony Mandlers, who will be making his directing debut on a feature film. He is a well known music-video director, where he has worked with the likes of: Eminem, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj Rihanna, Snoop Dogg og The Black Eyed Peas.

The film was originally shown at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival in 2018, before being renamed All Rise by the Entertainment Studios, which had obtained its rights. Eventually, Netflix acquired the rights and gave it back its original title: Monster.

Monster will premiere May 7, on Netflix of course.
