Stone Island, the Italian brand renowned for its cutting-edge approach to fabric innovation since 1982, is once again pushing the boundaries of material technology with its latest project, “Stone Island Material Science.” This initiative sees the brand diving into its rich history of experimentation, spotlighting one of its most legendary textiles: Raso Gommato. First unveiled in 1984, Raso Gommato revolutionized outerwear by fusing a cotton satin base with a polyurethane coating, delivering a sleek, functional fabric that’s both water- and wind-resistant. Over the decades, this pioneering material has spawned variations like the rugged Rip Stop Cover and the artisanal Hand Painted Camouflage, cementing its status as a cornerstone of Stone Island’s legacy.

For the Spring/Summer 2025 season, Stone Island is bringing Raso Gommato back into the spotlight with a modern twist: the Raso Gommato 3L Laser Camo. This reimagined version elevates the original concept into a sophisticated three-layer fabric, incorporating a breathable membrane for enhanced comfort. The production process is a testament to the brand’s meticulous craftsmanship—each piece is submerged in a resin bath, then intricately etched with a laser to create a striking camouflage pattern. The result? A one-of-a-kind finish that blends high-tech precision with Stone Island’s signature utilitarian aesthetic. This launch not only honors the brand’s heritage but also signals its relentless drive to innovate, making it a must-watch release for fashion enthusiasts and tech-fabric aficionados alike.
