Hunter Harvey adds Love and Intimacy to Iconic Cartoons in His Paintings

Hunter Harvey (b. 1989 in Peoria, Illinois) earned his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2012) and his MFA from the University of Chicago (2015). He currently lives and works in downtown Los Angeles. Harvey’s paintings are made using a combination of flashe paint, acrylic and airbrush techniques. Desire, love and intimacy are themes central to Harvey’s work. He often references American popular culture, particularly the Flintstones and Smokey the bear, reimagining these characters into a vibrant queer universe.
