Matthew Hanzman is a self taught painter from Miami Florida. His artwork reflects being an outcast as lone figures walk through deserts, tropics and other distant lands. Freedom and contemplation are themes in these vast spaces as we feel the pain of solitude but also the comfort of being an original.
His pieces look like cartoons or video games but show the wonders of paint on canvas. Vivid colors, smooth surfaces and distinct motifs make for deep sights that draw from various subcultures and influences to create a world of their own. He hopes these surreal spaces take us somewhere intriguing and compelling.
