    Bruun Rasmussen Sold to Bonhams

    by OVERSTANDARD March 22, 2022
    written by OVERSTANDARD

It has just been announced that the Danish auction house Bruun Rasmussen, has been sold to Bonhams, for an undisclosed amount.

”I have just clubbed the largest and most important hammer price in the history of Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers with the sale to Bonhams. To have led the way in the auction house’s eventful journey for so many years has been a privilege, and I look forward to becoming a part of the journey going towards even broader horizons together with Alexa and Frederik. I am very proud of the fact that our company has reached a level where it has become interesting for a worldwide player such as Bonhams.”

    – Jesper Bruun Rasmussen

Bruun Rasmussen was founded in 1948, and has been run by the family ever since. With the sale, the legendary auction house hopes to grow both nationally and internationally, coming under the wings of an even bigger and older auction house.

Bonham was founded in 1793, and has representation in 22 countries, and offices in: London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles and Hongkong. According to Jesper Bruun Rasmussen, the auction house will keep the name Bruun Rasmussen, but will be adding “Part of the Bonhams Network”.

“The auction house is an institution that is woven into the heart of the Danish nation. As a Dane, this purchase therefore gives me a special personal joy. At the same time, it strengthens Bonham’s strategy of being the world’s leading local auction house.”

    – Hans-Kristian Højsgaard, Chairman of Bonhams

For more information about the sale, check out the Bruun Rasmussen website.
