It has just been announced that the Danish auction house Bruun Rasmussen, has been sold to Bonhams, for an undisclosed amount.

To have led the way in the auction house’s eventful journey for so many years has been a privilege, and I look forward to becoming a part of the journey going towards even broader horizons together with Alexa and Frederik. Bruun Rasmussen was founded in 1948, and has been run by the family ever since. With the sale, the legendary auction house hopes to grow both nationally and internationally, coming under the wings of an even bigger and older auction house.
Bonham was founded in 1793, and has representation in 22 countries, and offices in: London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles and Hongkong. According to Jesper Bruun Rasmussen, the auction house will keep the name Bruun Rasmussen, but will be adding “Part of the Bonhams Network”.
