Who is ready to finally see the famous sequel to Coming To America – more than 32 years after the sequel?
After the film’s original release date in August 2020 was spoiled by COVID-19, Variery now reports that the legendary movie will go straight to streaming. The movie will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on March 5, 2021.
Coming 2 America is to be directed by Craig Brewer, who also directed Dolemite Is My Name, starring Eddie Murphy earning him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy, and putting him among contenders for the 2020 Best Actor Oscar, and the film for Best Picture.
In the sequel we follow King Akeem (Murphy) and Semmi (Arsenio Hall) on another short trip from Zamunda to Queens to meet Akeem’s unknown son for the first time, the heir to his throne. This is gonna be a good one!
