Stüssy and Junya Watanabe come from very different mythologies. One begins in Californian surf and street culture, shaped by the loose graphic language of beaches, cities, skate spots, and global youth codes. The other belongs to Tokyo’s more architectural menswear imagination, where familiar garments are taken apart, rebuilt, hybridised, and made strange through construction.
Two years after their first collaboration, the two return with a new Stüssy x eYe JUNYA WATANABE MAN collection that feels less like a loud streetwear drop and more like a controlled exercise in translation. Instead of chasing instant visual noise, the project asks what happens when Stüssy’s casual energy is filtered through Watanabe’s sharper, more structural eye.
The previous collaboration centred on a sleeveless hoodie: complex, contained, and already interested in joining two different worlds without forcing them into one obvious shape. This new chapter expands the language considerably, moving across shirts, blazers, varsity jackets, leather jackets, outerwear, and cargo trousers.
The references are exactly where they should be: Japanese tailoring, Ivy League, workwear, and the kind of American military influence that has long been absorbed, reworked, and reimagined through Japanese fashion. It is not nostalgia in a simple sense. It is clothing history treated as material, then cut into something more contemporary.
What makes the collection interesting is its restraint. For a Stüssy collaboration, there is surprisingly little graphic shouting. Logos and obvious branding are kept low, allowing the garments themselves to carry the message through shape, fabric, layering, and construction. That silence brings the project closer to Watanabe’s world, where the intelligence of a piece often sits in how it is built rather than how loudly it announces itself.
This is where the two brands meet most convincingly. Stüssy gives the clothes ease, cultural memory, and street-level instinct. Junya Watanabe gives them structure, discipline, and the pleasure of garments that reveal their complexity slowly. Together, they make streetwear feel older, quieter, and more considered without draining it of attitude.
The collection launched on August 28, 2026, through Stüssy’s online store, select chapter stores, selected Comme des Garçons / Dover Street Market locations, and the DSM e-shop.
