From a former East London studio, Marni has unveiled a Fall/Winter Vol. 1 collection that reimagines fashion as a collaborative, multidisciplinary canvas. Spearheaded by Francesco Risso—in what appears to be his final act at the house—the collection emerged from a creative residency featuring artists Olaolu Slawn and Soldier, culminating in an exhibition titled “The Pink Sun”, curated by Saatchi Yates.
Paintings from the residency were transformed into prints, embroideries, and appliqués, seamlessly integrated across garments that fuse Marni’s playful codes with a raw artistic spontaneity. The result is a collection steeped in irony, surrealism, and fantasy, grounded not in critique but in a sincere—if strange—vision of the contemporary world.
Symbolic and subversive, the collection retools familiar forms: bags take the shape of tank tops, sportswear meets artisanal craft, and motifs float between childlike dream and dystopian edge. It’s a fitting farewell from Risso, whose tenure at Marni consistently pushed the label toward emotionally driven, interdisciplinary storytelling.
A new campaign, shot in a Georgian house in East London, stars the collaborating artists themselves—adding an extra layer of intimacy to the project and echoing the collection’s commitment to authorship and community.
“The Pink Sun” collection will be available starting July 1st via Marni’s online store, closing one chapter while gesturing boldly toward the next.
