Extending its institutional reach through the Chanel Culture Fund, the French luxury titan launches ‘Pioneering Visions’ with a sprawling Sarah Sze exhibition and landmark film preservation initiatives.
When luxury houses invest in art, the partnership often begins and ends with a surface-level gallery sponsorship or a party backdrop. But Chanel is playing a much deeper game. Deepening its ongoing alliance with M+, Hong Kong’s monumental museum of visual culture, the French house has officially stepped in as a Lead Partner under a new three-year agreement spanning exhibitions, public programs, and digital archives.
Kicking off the expanded partnership is Pioneering Visions—a multifaceted initiative launching in February 2027 with Sarah Sze: Centrifuge, an immersive installation exploring image, space, and time. Beyond the gallery walls, the collaboration builds upon Chanel’s previous support of M+’s moving-image archive, which has already funded the restoration of nine foundational Hong Kong New Wave films and expanded the Asian Avant-Garde Film Collection.
