Photographed by Robert Fairer, whose backstage photographs from a decade at American Vogue captured an era of fashion few were allowed to see and now sit in collections at the V&A and beyond, the editorial turns that seasoned eye on an emerging talent. Brian de Carvalho’s designs supply its dark romance: maximalist, sculptural and unafraid of the grotesque.
At its centre is art director Giulia Moliarov, who envisioned and built the environment in which the work unfolds.
The result is a transformed interior with the air of a beautiful wreck: punk in its rawness, romantic in its decay, the silhouettes and the crumbling mansion dressed for the same dark occasion.
For all its theatre and faded grandeur, this is not nostalgia but inheritance, an old language of craft carried into new hands.
