The Danish clothing brand CARCEL has returned with a new owner in the form of Minimum founder Peder Tang, who has hired Mette Fredin Christensen as creative director.

CARCEL was originally founded back in 2016, by Veronica d’Souza, and quickly created a following and made themselves noticed by creating sustainable clothes, and manufacturing their garments in women’s prisons in Thailand and Peru. Sadly, in 2021 Carcel was forced to shut down, due to the corona pandemic.

It’s going to be exciting to see what direction the new team behind CARCEL take. If they will continue with the manufacturing in women’s prisons, or if the pandemic has completely destroyed all chances of that. Stay tuned for more updates.
