The American artist Jeff Koons has covered the BMW M850i Gran Coupé, with a fullbody pop-art style paint job. The luxury car will be limited to only 99 units, and one of them will be auctioned off by Christie’s on April 4.

It arrives with 11 colors on its exterior, which takes hundreds of hours per vehicle just for the paint, and once finished resembles a comic strip with the word pop in various speech bubbles. The duo first teamed up back in 2010, when Koons worked on the BMW Art Car.

“I am very proud to unveil with BMW today THE 8 X JEFF KOONS edition! I started developing the ideas for this car back in 2010 when I designed the M3 GT2 Art Car. The Art Car was Plan B, my original intention, Plan A is what I have been finally able to realize today in THE 8 X JEFF KOONS. I wanted to create a car that when it would drive by there would be an explosive POP! POP! POP! A sense of exhilarating energy. I created a sports car in the 850i Grand Coupé that I’ve always wanted to drive myself!”

In terms of performance, it has a 4.4L V8 M TwinPower Turbo engine with 523 horsepower and Adaptive M Suspension.

BMW will produce two vehicles a week, being exclusively for sale for the US market for approximately $350,000.
