Matthew M. Williams, the former creative director of Givenchy and founder of 1017 ALYX 9SM, is stepping into a new era with the launch of his latest fashion label. This fresh venture will make its official debut during Paris Fashion Week at the Seiya Nakamura showroom, marking a pivotal moment in the designer’s evolving journey.
Unlike the rigid timelines of the traditional fashion calendar, Williams’ new brand will reject seasonal constraints, instead embracing a product-focused approach. The emphasis lies on craftsmanship, materials, and finishing details, with production handled by a curated network of around twenty specialized suppliers. These include a Japanese denim atelier and a Spanish artisanal shoemaker, highlighting Williams’ commitment to quality and authenticity.
Following his turbulent exit from both Givenchy and his own label 1017 ALYX 9SM, which has undergone a complicated evolution in recent years, this new chapter signals a return to form. Williams appears intent on distilling his creative vision down to its essence, moving beyond hype cycles and reestablishing his connection with design integrity.
