The North Face has presented its debut collaboration with Japanese designer Naohira Fujisaki, unveiling a Spring/Summer 2025 capsule that redefines urban exploration. This partnership takes the brand’s legacy of rugged outdoor gear and infuses it with a forward-thinking, city-savvy twist, blending functionality with sleek, modern design. The result is a collection that feels both rooted in The North Face’s heritage and boldly experimental, tailored for the urban adventurer navigating concrete jungles and beyond.
At the heart of the capsule are reimagined versions of The North Face’s iconic staples: the Himalayan Suit, the Hard Shell Mountain Jacket, and the Denali Jacket. Fujisaki brings his distinctive vision to these classics, sharpening their silhouettes with precise cuts, adding practical utilitarian pockets, and incorporating detachable components for versatility. These updates transform the pieces into hybrid gear—equally suited for a mountain trail or a bustling cityscape. The collection also boasts DryVent technology, featuring a water-repellent finish that strikes an ideal balance between lightweight wearability, durability, and high performance. The color palette leans into earthy tones with pops of orange, a subtle tribute to the bold hues of classic industrial design, giving the line a striking yet grounded aesthetic.
But the collaboration doesn’t stop at apparel. The North Face has also teamed up with multidisciplinary artist Oscar Wang to elevate the capsule’s launch with an immersive experience during Hong Kong Art Week. Wang’s contribution includes a two-meter dome tent installation that merges urban and natural worlds through a captivating mix of ambient soundscapes and mirrored projections. This art piece echoes the collection’s ethos—bridging the gap between the wild outdoors and the urban environment—while offering a sensory journey that amplifies the innovative spirit of the S/S25 line.
With Fujisaki’s design ingenuity and Wang’s artistic flair, The North Face is not just releasing a collection—it’s crafting a narrative of exploration that transcends traditional boundaries. This capsule is a bold step forward, proving that the brand’s pioneering ethos can thrive in the streets as much as it does in the wilderness.
