The good folks behind Daily Paper, has presented its Spring / Summer 2024 collection, and as members of the diaspora, the shared experience of growing up in a foreign country or culture resonates deeply. The surroundings appear transient, and a yearning for a sense of belonging pervades. The pursuit of a rhythm that feels instinctive, uplifting, and comfortable takes center stage, as articulated in the evolving series for SS24.
This quest for rhythm and communal belonging finds expression in prints and graphics, portraying masses harmoniously coexisting in coordinated ensembles, spanning sweatshirts, T-shirts, and tailored suits in earthy tones. Additional motifs draw inspiration from animal and migratory rhythms, manifested through cargo designs or intricate crochet details.
Classic monogrammed denim undergoes a transformative journey with a distressed effect, while vintage-inspired blues evoke a nostalgic spirit that harmoniously coexists with digital prints by Nigerian visual artist Alexis Tsegba. Tsegba’s artistic practice delves into Afrofuturism and identity exploration.
Completing Daily Paper’s ready-to-wear collection for the autumn-winter season are iconic bags like the Cimbia, Codu, Meru, and Nay, now presented in the refreshing hues of baby blue and grey, aptly named “Moonstruck.” This multifaceted collection encapsulates a rich tapestry of stories, inviting individuals to resonate with their journey towards self-discovery and collective belonging.
