Just as we have gotten the final season of Game of Thrones behind us, the good people behind the series just tweeted that production for the upcoming spin-off series House of the Dragon, are set to begin in 2021. Thereby ending several years of rumors and speculation.

The series will consist of 10 episodes and it will tell the story of House of Targaryen before the Mother of Dragons. It’s based on George R.R. Martin’s book from 2018, Fire and Blood, which follows Westeros 300 years before the Game of Thrones.

Miguel Sapochnik will be the director, he also directed episodes such as Battle of the Bastards and Hardhome, among others. Check out the tweet below and stay tuned to Overstandard for more info.
