Stine Goya and Umbro: A Scandi-Cool Love Letter to 90s Football Nostalgia

In an unexpected but completely brilliant cross-cultural collision, Copenhagen-based designer Stine Goya has teamed up with British heritage sportswear giant Umbro. The result? A five-piece capsule that takes the beautiful game firmly off the pitch and into the heart of contemporary streetwear.

Tapping into the collective yearning for the golden era of British football—think the swagger of Gazza, the early-days Beckham hysteria, and the unapologetic lad culture of the 90s—this collaboration is a heavy hit of pure nostalgia, filtered through a distinctly modern lens.

Rather than just reproducing retro kits, the Central Saint Martins alum subverts the traditional sportswear template. Goya injects her signature Scandinavian palettes and disruptive approach to color into the collection, elevating standard football shirts and tracksuit bottoms into something far more fluid and sartorially complex.

It’s an unlikely alliance that works precisely because it bridges two distinct European design languages. Stine Goya’svibrant, art-school rebellion softens Umbro’s gritty terrace heritage, resulting in a lineup that feels just as at home at a rave in Nørrebro as it does on a Sunday league sideline.

Ultimately, this collaboration is a celebration of the world’s game seen entirely through Danish eyes—proving once again that football culture is the ultimate universal language.

The Stine Goya x Umbro Collection is available to shop now via stinegoya.com and select global retailers.
