Busting open the boundaries between retail and contemporary art, Jonathan Anderson fills his Pimlico Road store with sonic wind chimes, raw ceramics, and visceral sculpture.
For fashion provocateur Jonathan Anderson, the boundary between clothing, craft, and contemporary art has always been porous. Throughout his career, the Northern Irish designer has consistently treated retail spaces not as sterile boutiques, but as living, breathing extensions of the gallery world. Now, coinciding with London’s frenetic Frieze Week 2026, JW Anderson’s Pimlico Road flagship is undergoing a profound transformation with a group exhibition titled A Composition.
Anchored by a mesmerizing new series of 30 sonic wind chimes by conceptual artist Cerith Wyn Evans, the store dissolves commercial routine into an immersive sensory environment.
Flowing through the store alongside Wyn Evans’ glass-and-sound installations are the raw, emotive ceramic vessels of Akiko Hirai, figurative paintings by Mary Stephenson, and visceral, tactile sculptures by Shawanda Corbett. By stripping back traditional retail displays to make room for delicate materiality and avant-garde form, the exhibition underscores Anderson’s enduring dedication to the global contemporary art community.
