Carhartt WIP and Salomon are linking up again — for the first time since 2022 — and this time the collaboration feels more fluid, more urban, and more forward-looking. The two brands have turned their attention to the X-ALP, one of Salomon’s most recognisable silhouettes, reworking it into a hybrid design that moves comfortably between mountain landscapes and city streets.
Their earlier partnership leaned heavily into hiking culture, delivering a boot that spoke directly to outdoor performance. This new iteration takes a different approach. The updated Salomon x Carhartt WIP X-ALP is built in black grain leather, giving the shoe a sharper, more metropolitan edge while retaining its technical backbone. Suede panels soften the silhouette, introducing texture and elevating the overall finish without compromising durability.
Branding is present but restrained. Carhartt WIP’s signature camouflage appears on the tongue and heel, acting more as a design accent than a logo statement. A speckled midsole ties the materials together, grounding the shoe in Salomon’s performance heritage while keeping the look cohesive and contemporary.
To frame the release, the brands collaborated with filmmaker Bailey Marklew, setting the campaign in a remote environment that nods to Salomon’s classic outdoor imagery. Rather than leaning into pure nature aesthetics, the visuals push into a futuristic, sci-fi–tinged narrative, reinforcing the idea of the shoe as a tool for movement across worlds — not just terrains.
The Salomon x Carhartt WIP X-ALP drops on December 18, available both online and in-store via Salomon and Carhartt WIP.
