In an unexpected yet refined collaboration, JJJJound joins forces with Korean artist Gyuhuan Lee to present a project that redefines the purpose and perception of everyday objects. This creative partnership turns JJJJound’s packaging boxes into a series of handcrafted lamps, merging aesthetics with sustainability.
Gyuhuan Lee, a key figure in a new design movement that elevates found, recycled, and reused materials, brings his distinctive approach to the collaboration. Known for transforming unconventional items like Happy Meal bags and Hermès packaging into elevated design objects, Lee continues his exploration of material culture and sustainability.
The resulting lamps blur the lines between design, upcycling, and branding, with a visual language that echoes minimalist architecture and emphasizes square proportions. Each lamp, available in two sizes, functions as a domestic lantern, offering a warm, soft light. This glow is made possible through the integration of recycled materials and Hanji paper—a traditional Korean paper long associated with the construction of historic interiors.
By transforming disposable packaging into enduring design, this collaboration not only reinforces JJJJound’s understated ethos but also positions Lee at the forefront of a conversation around sustainability, craftsmanship, and the future of product design.
