After designer Clare Waight Keller left her position as creative director at Givenchy, and after ensuing speculation about her possible replacement, today, the French luxury house announced their new creative director Matthew M Williams, founder of ALYX.
The 34-year-old Californian, who will move to Italy to assume his position within the LVMH group had the following to say:
I am extremely honored to join the Givenchy House.” “I am looking forward to working together with your workshops and teams, to take you to a new era, based on modernity and inclusion. In these unprecedented times for the world, I want to send a message of hope, together with my community and colleagues, and I intend to contribute to positive change.

In his new role as creative director, Williams will be responsible for many of the same tasks Keller set out to accomplish as art director: overseeing and developing the creative production of men’s, women’s, and accompanying accessories, in addition to brand image.
Williams will show his first collection for Givenchy in October.
