The Japanese brand Mountain Research has just unveiled its Spring/Summer 2026 collection, a seasonal reset that reframes classic outdoor uniforms for warmer climates and active wearers. Rather than repackaging past designs, the label focuses on weight, airflow, and modularity to meet the shifting demands of spring and summer conditions.
This season’s lineup, dubbed “Clockwork Cottage,” leans into lightweight fabrics and strategic ventilation, eschewing bulk in favor of garments that feel responsive to heat and movement. Designs include parkas, vests, shirts, and ponchos reworked with an eye toward breathability and adaptability, making them suitable for trail use as well as urban exploration.
For transitioning weather or cooler moments, pieces such as the Octa Hoodie and Sweat Pants employ an ultra-light polyester fleece that wick away moisture — essentially a summer-tuned evolution of earlier Mountain Research fleece staples.
In the bottoms category, items like Doogie Cargo Trousers, A11 Pant, and ventilated waders combine functional detailing and airflow with everyday wearability. Ventilated zippers, belted waists, and wider cuts make these pieces feel equally at home on a hike or on the street.
The collection is rounded out with a range of accessories — including bangles, lanyards, and neckwarmers — that reflect the same thoughtful balance of utility and style.
Released now via Mountain Research’s online store, the SS26 drop feels less like a seasonal capsule and more like a response to changing environmental and lifestyle needs — outdoor gear that doesn’t force you to choose between function and wearability.
