Nike’s Air Max Muse has always felt like a future-facing silhouette — all heightened arch, sculpted curves, and that deliberately “look at me” Air unit in the heel. But with Veneda Carter back for a new iteration, the sneaker’s next chapter isn’t about dialing the weirdness up even further… it’s about grounding it in running heritage, then coating it in a glossy, ocean-toned sheen.
This latest drop marks Carter’s second expression of the model, and the story starts in the archives. Nike frames the shoe as a collision of retro running aesthetics and modern color/texture play — referencing the kind of shiny materialsand brighter palettes that defined a certain era of performance footwear. It’s nostalgia, but filtered through a silhouette that still reads technical and slightly alien.
Visually, the “Racer Blue” colourway does the heavy lifting. The base stays white, while the inserts swing into a nearly oceanic blue with a glossy finish that exaggerates the Muse’s already dramatic lines. A neon Air Max logo on the tongue adds that last jolt of energy, and a silver Swoosh lands as the cool, metallic counterbalance — sporty, sleek, and a little space-age.
Then comes the detail that makes it unmistakably Veneda: a textured silver chain integrated into the lacing setup, nodding to her jewellery world and turning a performance-coded sneaker into something that can flick between street, styling prop, and proper fit finisher. Nike also calls out a jewel Swoosh pendant as part of the design language — that “unexpected charm” moment that shifts the Muse from just another Air Max into a shoe with personality.
Release-wise, it’s a staggered rollout: first March 6 via venedacarter.com, then a wider drop March 13 through Nike SNKRS and select retailers. In other words: if you want the pair with maximum bragging rights, you’re aiming for the early access — but the main event hits a week later.
