Over a career spanning more than five decades, Jan Håfström has worked across painting, sculpture, and film, establishing himself as one of Sweden’s most respected artists. Now, his practice takes an unexpected turn into the realm of fashion, as he collaborates once again with the Swedish clothing label A Day’s March. Unlike their previous collection, which drew on Håfström’s alter ego Mr. Walker, this new capsule collection is rooted in a single artwork: Skogen (The Forest), created between 1967 and 1968.

Currently displayed at Moderna Museet in Stockholm, the painting depicts an enchanted woodland with vibrating tree forms, dense trunks, and lush vegetation rendered in greens and earthy browns. For Håfström, Skogen represents a dreamlike, mysterious world, one that continues to inspire him decades later.
This sense of otherworldliness is translated into a series of limited-edition garments and objects. Key highlights include the Foliage Mohair Cardigan and the Foliage Cotton Silk Scarf, which reinterpret the canvas’s abstract foliagethrough luxurious materials. A Realtree-style camouflage print, adapted from details of the painting, appears on the Overshirt, Trousers, and Tote Bag, while other essentials—such as the Skogen Long Sleeve T-shirt, Skogen Silk Cotton Scarf, and Skogen Tote Bag—extend the theme of nature and wilderness.

The capsule also moves beyond clothing. A Skogen Scented Candle evokes the forest atmosphere, while the Skogen Plaid Wool Throw brings its imagery into the home. As a distinctive artistic gesture, the collection includes a small run of hand-forged axes from Gränsfors Bruk, each finished by Håfström himself, blurring the line between art object and functional tool.
The Skogen collection is available now, sold exclusively at the A Day’s March flagship store in Stockholm and through the brand’s official online shop.
