Dutch artist Piet Parra’s latest works delve into a personal odyssey, tracing his artistic roots. Returning to his hometown, Parra unearthed his father’s ’90s drawings, reigniting a nostalgic connection to the art that shaped his childhood. Additionally, he drew inspiration from Willem Janssen‘s playful depictions of figures and animals in beach settings from the same era. Janssen’s influence is evident in the figuration and composition of Parra’s new engravings.
Inspired by the rolling dunes surrounding Amsterdam, where he often enjoys cycling, Parra crafted a beach scene that serves as the backdrop for his two new works, released in collaboration with Avant Arte. Titled after his band, Mich, these engravings evoke a sense of nostalgia and celebration.
- Lost Keys: This piece portrays a trio of women, reminiscent of a beach scene once painted by Parra’s father.
- Four Walls: This work features three women mingling, suggesting an after-hours party where time and place become blurred.
Both engravings are limited editions of 150 units, printed on high-quality Somerset Tub Sized Radiant White paper and signed and numbered by Parra.
