Umbro has ignited a powerful resurgence in 2024, thanks to a strategic revival by Slam Jam. This revival isn’t just a simple rehash; it’s a respectful homage to Umbro’s rich archive of iconic sportswear, a true cornerstone of British cultural fashion. The brand is masterfully balancing its heritage with a bold, contemporary vision, crafting a fresh narrative by reimagining the aesthetics of security personnel uniforms and the archetypal football silhouettes that defined generations, bridging the gap between the pitch and the streets.
The Spring/Summer 2025 collection is a testament to this vision, offering a diverse range of garments from outerwear and polo shirts to hoodies and tops. Standout pieces include military-inspired crest hoodies and t-shirts, tactical windbreakers, and half-zip jackets that draw direct inspiration from the functional design of security uniforms. Caps adorned with striking graphics and slogans provide a bold visual accent, while football-infused hockey jerseys create a unique fusion of sporting styles.
Adding a powerful visual dimension to the collection is the campaign, shot by renowned Japanese photographer Satoshi Fujiwara. His work captures the raw energy and chaotic beauty of a football “away day,” depicting the fervent interactions of supporters as they embrace in the stands and navigate the bustling journey to the game. This authentic portrayal underscores the collection’s deep connection to the cultural experiences that define Umbro’s legacy.
Enthusiasts can anticipate the release in two distinct drops: the first on March 4th, followed by the second on March 21st. The collection will be available through Slam Jam and Umbro’s online stores, as well as select retail partners. This carefully planned rollout ensures that this compelling fusion of heritage and innovation reaches a broad audience, solidifying Umbro’s revitalized position in the contemporary fashion landscape.
