The Painting is called Street Scene in Montmartre, and it recently sold for $15.4 million USD, at Sotheby’s auction house. It was painted in 1887, three years before the Dutch painter died and it’s been in the same anonymous French family collection for more than 100 years, out of the public eye.

Van Gogh painted it when he was living in Paris, where he lived from 1886 to 1888.
