Featuring leather-wrapped second-skin frames, floating woven stitches, and a multi-city experiential takeover, the unstoppable duo redefines ocular avant-garde.
Some collaborative pairings burn out after a single capsule, but Maison Margiela and Gentle Monster are only accelerating. Returning for their fourth joint venture, the conceptual house and the Korean eyewear disruptor are dropping an unprecedented 68-frame collection—spanning 43 sunglasses and 25 optical styles that push deconstruction straight into the optical realm.
Rooted in sculptural subversion, the massive lineup features face-wrapping oversized silhouettes alongside sharp, upswept shapes encased in leather for a striking second-skin effect. Margiela’s iconic four white stitches anchor the temples, while select minimalist frames introduce a floating woven stitch detail that hovers along the edges.
To celebrate the October 29 launch, the brands are rolling out eight immersive pop-ups across Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai,Beijing, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Melbourne, and Paris, built around raw, unfinished architectural forms. In Seoul, choreographer Damien Jalet and artist Ian McMahon will anchor the drop with a live performance exploring kinetic transformation.
Dropping globally on October 29, the massive collection proves that when Margiela’s conceptual DNA meets Gentle Monster’s relentless futurism, conventional optics simply cease to exist.
