Instagram is planning to revive its chronological feed, after ditching the option back in 2016.
For those of you who may not remember, the platform used to display posts in chronological order until five years ago, when it decided to switch to an AI-powered algorithm. When the company implemented the change, users were unhappy, as the average Instagrammer was missing 70% of their feed.

Adam Mosseri, CEO of Instagram, announced that the social media giant is looking for a way to add the option of chronological feed for its users. Speaking at a Senate hearing on teen safety and the influence of social media on children, he shared that the company plans to “give people the option of having a chronological feed.

“We believe in more transparency and accountability and we believe in more control. That’s why we’re currently working on a version of a chronological feed that we hope to launch next year,” (…) “I wish I had a specific month to tell you right now, but right now we’re targeting the first quarter of next year.”
