First Trailer For ESPN’s ‘Rodman: For Better Or Worse’ Documentary

Dennis Rodman is one of those basketball players that everyone knows, although not necessarily for his skills on the court.

The thing is, because of his flashy acting, we sometimes forget that Rodman (born in New Jersey in 1961) was simply one of the best players in the world throughout the 1980s and much of the 1990s. In fact, he was especially good at catching rebounds, something that no basketball fan discovered.

And although there’s already other documentaries about his life and even a biopic, we knew that something was missing. And that something was the definitive audiovisual piece that helped us to form the puzzle of his life, going into striking details such as painting his hair or dressing as a bride, but delving into the why’s. And for that you had to do major background research.

Luckily “Rodman: For Better Or Worse” is just that. Making a complex portrait of the person and the character, the documentary delves into the roots of the human being and discovers someone extremely sensitive and with a hard past that often does not know how to deal with their demons.

Between the call for attention in search of affection, the difficulty of self-control and the belief that you must be a good person.

So between magnificent archive images, recreations for the most intimate scenes and the voice of Jamie Foxx as narrator, we discovered a serious and wonderful documentary film to discover a rich and complex character of whom we only knew from on the court.

The documentary is made by ESPN and premieres September 10, 9pm ET on ESPN.
