Supreme Pays Tribute to My Bloody Valentine

by Rubén Palma April 20, 2020
    written by Rubén Palma

This week’s Supreme drop will include a series of tribute garments to the rock band My Bloody Valentine.

My Bloody Valentine is a rock band whose sound pioneered the musical sub-genre “shoegazing”, a dissonant, hoarse and dreamy sound that became popular in the UK since the late 1980s, the same period that saw the members founders of the band Kevin Shields and Colm. Cíosóig move from Dublin to London. From there, with the additions of Debbie Googe and Bilinda Butcher, the four formed the ground-breaking core that pushed the band’s dark sound away from the experimental towards accessibility. Supreme adds: “My Bloody Valentine has influenced generations of musicians and audiences. The band forged new possibilities on how to make loud music, as well as how to listen to it and experience it. ”

The capsule collection takes advantage of the original illustrations from the albums of the discography of My Bloody Valentine: so we can see on the shirts, trucker jackets or hoodies, images of Feed Me With Your Kiss, Loveless, from their EP Glider or from their album namesake.

Since Supreme’s physical stores in the US, UK, and France are still closed, the Supreme x My Bloody Valentine collection will be available online only through the Supreme web store from April 23. While Japan will see a subsequent launch online and in store on April 25.
