Jordan Peele & J.J. Abrams Behind New Horror Series on HBO – Watch The First Trailer For ‘Lovecraft Country’

When Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams teams up on a TV series, there is good reason to open your eyes.

The two experienced directors are executive producers on HBO’s big summer venture ‘Lovecraft Country‘, which over 10 episodes unfolds a thrilling world populated with supernatural monsters during the Jim Crow era.

The series follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors from ‘The Last Black Man In San Francisco’), who embarks on a road trip through the 1950s US in search of his missing father (Michael Kenneth Williams from ‘The Wire‘ & ‘Boardwalk Empire‘).

Soon, Freeman and his followers must overcome both racism and mysterious monsters – and judging by the first trailer, it will be a highly tense affair.

‘Lovecraft Country’ is based on Matt Ruff’s 2016 bestseller, which linked the horror fiction of mythical author H.P. Lovecraft with Racism in the 1950s United States.

It’s not just on the producer front that the series is populated with talented filmmakers. Yann Demange (‘Behind the Enemy Lines’) is a conceptual director, while Daniel Sackheim (‘True Detective’, ‘Game of Thrones’) is an episode director. The relatively unknown Misha Green is the showrunner.

‘Lovecraft Country’ will premiere on HBO Nordic in August. The exact date is yet to be announced.
